ABSTRACT
This study assessed the level of knowledge and extent of application of the DepEd Child Protection Policy among teachers and parents in the five integrated schools of Buguias. Specifically, it examined the level of knowledge of teachers and parents, the level of their application of the policy, and the correlation between their knowledge and application. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, the study involved teachers through complete enumeration and parents through sampling, with data gathered from September to October 2025. Findings revealed that teachers possess a high level of knowledge of the DepEd Child Protection Policy, while parents demonstrate a moderate level of understanding. Similarly, teachers exhibit a high extent of policy application, whereas parents show a moderate extent of implementation in the home and community settings. Results further indicated a high positive correlation between knowledge and application among teachers and a very high positive correlation among parents, suggesting that greater understanding of the policy is strongly associated with improved implementation. Based on these findings, the study recommends providing training and practical orientation for both teachers and parents, supported by regular reinforcement activities to sustain and improve policy application. Schools are encouraged to strengthen institutional support and monitoring through fully functional Child Protection Committees and to address barriers that hinder effective implementation. Future research should consider longitudinal studies to track changes in knowledge and application over time and include the experiences of learners to gain a more holistic view of the policy’s implementation.
