characteristics of a population and the objective of the study.
Findings revealed that for the participants in the exposed group, majority are 10 and 11 years of age, either firstborn or second child and belonging to families with 15,000 pesos and below monthly family income. Most are females with undergraduate parents. As for the unexposed group, majority are 10 years old and female with both parents able to attend and finish their secondary education. At the start of the experiment, the participants in both the exposed and unexposed group has very satisfactory performance in English but only less than 70% of skills mastered. After the teaching learning process, the participants in the exposed group to the selected teaching strategies rose to the outstanding level with 97.6% skills mastered. While the unexposed group remained in the very satisfactory level with 76.7% skills mastered.
Based on the findings, the following conclusion is drawn: There is a significant improvement in the English performance of the pupils whether using the traditional method or the selected teaching strategies in the teaching learning process. The selected teaching strategies have the same effect on the pupils with varying personal characteristics as their performance does not differ with their profile. The traditional method was found to be more effective to children with mothers with higher education and belonging to the upper income families. Theselected teaching strategies are more effective in teaching English than the traditional method.
