Abstract
This study examined the relationship between teaching ability and self-efficacy among physical education teachers at selected universities in China. Research design is descriptive-comparative-correlational. Results indicate that higher levels of teaching ability significantly enhance teachers' self-efficacy, particularly in the areas of classroom management and teaching performance. Improvements in professional knowledge, teaching skills, organizational management, and research abilities contribute to greater teaching confidence, increased motivation, and a positive professional attitude. This study recommends strengthening the teacher development plan to improve the teaching ability and self-efficacy of university physical education teachers from seven aspects: improving the teacher development support system, strengthening scientific research capabilities and organizational management capabilities, improving classroom management capabilities and teaching effectiveness, unifying teacher training standards, highlighting professional knowledge and teaching ability, optimizing the design of the teacher evaluation system, and strengthening curriculum design and educational technology application capabilities.
