Abstract
This research study aimed to determine the impact of climate-related factors on academic performance of students in Sulu State College. The study used a descriptive-correlation design to examine the impact of climate change on students’ academic performance. The descriptive aspect assessed students’ perceptions and experiences, while the correlation aspect measured the relationship between climate change factors and academic performance. One Hundred (100) students representing different age, gender, courses, place of residence, mode of transportation, and GPA chose as respondents of this study. Questionnaires that detailed students’ perceptions of climate change and its effects on their academic activities were utilized; and Academic Records of Students’ GPA for the latest semester was obtained to measure academic performance.
The result showed there was a negative correlation between climate-related factors and academic performance. It also showed as climate stress increases, performance tends to decrease, but it is not statistically correlated. While there was slight negative trend, there was not enough evidence to claim a strong linear relationship between climate-related factors and over all academic performance of students.
