ABSTRACT
Private higher educational institutions are increasingly confronted with crises involving natural disasters, health emergencies, cybersecurity threats, operational disruptions, financial instability, and reputational concerns. These challenges require institutions to establish effective crisis management practices to ensure organizational resilience and continuity of educational services. This study assessed the management practices of private higher educational institutions in Caloocan City, Metro Manila, during the academic year 2025–2026 and served as the basis for the development of a crisis management program.
The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design. Respondents included presidents, department heads, and college instructors from selected private higher educational institutions in Caloocan City. Stratified random sampling was utilized to ensure representation across respondent groups. Data were gathered through a researcher-made questionnaire validated by educational administrators and research experts. Statistical tools such as frequency counts, percentages, weighted means, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation were used in analyzing the data.
Findings revealed that most respondents were experienced and highly educated administrators with advanced academic qualifications and extensive participation in professional development activities. The institutions demonstrated highly practiced management strategies in areas such as health emergencies, student welfare, operational continuity, reputation management, and personnel management. However, accreditation processes and cybersecurity preparedness emerged as areas requiring further enhancement. Statistical analysis indicated no significant differences in management practices across demographic variables, suggesting institutional consistency in crisis management implementation.
The study concludes that private higher educational institutions possess generally effective crisis management practices but must continuously strengthen technological preparedness, accreditation compliance, and cybersecurity measures to address emerging educational challenges. The proposed crisis management program emphasizes leadership development, emergency preparedness, technological integration, and institutional collaboration to improve organizational resilience and sustainability.
