ABSTRACT
This study explores the relationship between English proficiency and academic performance of the Grade 10 students of Liceo Virgen De Los Remedios (Placer), Inc. Employing a quantitative research design, the study involved randomly selected respondents. Data were gathered from the collated official school records for students’ general average (academic performance) and EF SET scores (English proficiency).
Findings revealed that there is a relationship between the English proficiency and academic performance of Grade 10 students. The relationship of the two variable suggests that as EF SET scores (English proficiency) increases, so does general average (academic performance) of the students. The English proficiency (seen from EF SET scores) is likely to influence the students’ academic performance (seen from general average). It indicates that the higher the students’ English proficiency, the higher their academic performance.
