ABSTRACT
This study examines the effectiveness of the Read, Cover, Remember, Retell (RCRR) Strategy–Reciprocal Teaching Duo in improving the reading comprehension skills of Grade 8 students at Buracan National High School. A quantitative pre-test and post-test design was used.
Results of the pre-test showed that all 29 participants (100%) were at the Frustration level. After the intervention, post-test results revealed improvement: 7 students (24%) reached the Independent level, 16 students (55%) reached the Instructional level, and only 6 students (21%) remained at the Frustration level.
The findings indicate a significant improvement in reading comprehension after the implementation of the RCRR strategy-Reciprocal Teaching Duo. This shows that the intervention is effective in enhancing students’ reading skills.
