ABSTRACT
The study aimed to evaluate how effective a PowerPoint-based game as a teaching and learning tool for Grade 2 Mathematics at Dangpanan Elementary School, Dangpanan, Placer, Masbate. Using a descriptive research design, the researchers collected data from twenty-five (25) Grade 2 pupils through a research-made survey questionnaire. The learners’ demographic profile revealed that 88% were 7 years old, 8% were 8 years old, and 4% were 9 years old. Findings revealed that the use of a PowerPoint-based game in teaching Grade 2 Mathematics with variety of animations and triggers served as a source of enjoyment and excitement for the learners. Furthermore, it showed that the learners easily learned and retained the topic with the integration of technology. The study concludes that PowerPoint-based game is not just an instructional material for teaching but it also serves as an entertainment while learning at the same time. Recommendations contain that the PowerPoint-based game must be age-appropriate, manipulative, and more additional amazing animations and triggers that would help catch the attention of the learners.
