Introduction
Choosing a career is a major decision that shapes a young person’s future, growth, and sense of purpose. While it may feel like a personal choice, it is often influenced by many factors—especially parents. Through their advice, actions, and everyday behavior, parents play a strong role in shaping how students see work, success, and their future. From an early age, children observe and absorb their parents’ values and expectations. These experiences can guide and inspire them, but they may also limit their choices if students feel pressured to meet family expectations. Because of this, understanding parental influence is important.
This study focuses on how parents’ guidance, values, and expectations affect students’ career decisions. It aims to provide insights on how families can better support young people in choosing paths that truly fit their interests and goals.
