Introduction
Discrimination has been a recurring issue in educational settings and has been connected to detrimental results for students, such as poor mental health, diminished sense of belonging, and worse academic achievement.
According to studies, discriminatory language is common in colleges and universities, and students from underrepresented groups are especially susceptible to it (Benner et al., 2018. Also, according to ricento T. (2005), language discrimination refers to the unfair or unequal treatment of individuals or groups based on their language or linguistics background.
Discrimination is often illegal and can be a horrible and traumatic experience. Individuals are often subjected to prejudice due to their age, sexual preferences (particularly if they have a disability), and, lastly, their gender or sex. Bullying and discrimination often go hand in hand. Negative discrimination typically occurs when someone acts in a way that is intended to irritate or offend the other person.
Experiences with discriminatory language frequently have a negative impact on pupils' academic performance and social-emotional health. Moreover, the study discovered that discriminatory language experiences between peers and between teachers and students were especially detrimental to students' academic and social-emotional outcomes.
The necessity of creating successful treatments to reduce racism in schools has also been emphasized by researchers (Bell et al., 2019).
Gender inequality is a key impediment to women's political engagement in the Philippines, according to a study by Kabeer (2000). Women face a number of challenges, including limited access to education and resources, gender-based abuse and harassment, and cultural and societal conventions that restrict their positions.
