Introduction
Linguists are quick to remind us that there are various forms of grammar, meaning that the structures and functions of language can be defined and studied in different ways (Nordquist, 2011). One fundamental distinction between prescriptive grammar (also known as usage) and descriptive grammar is that both are concerned with rules, but they serve different purposes. Prescriptive grammarians, on the other hand, attempt to impose guidelines for what they consider to be proper language usage.
This study specifically sought to determine their demographic profile and whether there were any differences when categorized based on predetermined criteria. Teachers' experiences, demands, and participation in professional learning and development may be influenced by their professional situations and characteristics, hence it is imperative to look into demographic factors (OECD, 2020). The English major at Isabela State University, in particular, is not exempt from this predicament. As English-speaking graduates, common sense says that they should be proficient in their second language (L2) and have a deeper comprehension of how the structure and functions of words interact in a particular text.
