Abstract
This monograph presents the implementation and outcomes of the KUSINA MASTER SA BANAY CTU community extension project conducted in Barangay Apalan, Tuburan, Cebu, Philippines. The project was designed to empower women through culinary skills training and livelihood development opportunities. Specifically, it assessed the extent of skills acquired by the beneficiaries, the application of these skills in their daily lives, and the resulting effects on skill enhancement, work-related values, and economic empowerment.
Using a descriptive research design and purposive sampling, data were gathered from 35 women beneficiaries who participated in the training program. Statistical tools such as weighted mean and frequency percentage were utilized to analyze the level of skills acquisition, the degree of skill utilization, and the overall impact of the project. Results revealed that the participants achieved a high level of competency in culinary and livelihood-related skills, demonstrating proficiency, accuracy, and confidence in applying the techniques learned during the training. The beneficiaries reported actively utilizing their acquired knowledge, particularly in food preparation, food product development, and income-generating activities within their households and communities.
The findings further indicated that the extension project significantly contributed to the development of technical skills, entrepreneurial capabilities, work-related values, and economic independence among the participants. The program enhanced productivity and livelihood opportunities while fostering self-reliance and community participation. However, the study also identified areas for improvement, particularly in strengthening interpersonal skills, self-confidence, leadership abilities, and financial management competencies.
The monograph concludes that the KUSINA MASTER SA BANAY CTU project serves as an effective community extension model for women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihood development. The project has positively influenced the economic well-being and productivity of the beneficiaries, highlighting the importance of continued support, capacity-building initiatives, and expansion of similar programs. Strengthening local entrepreneurship and food-based enterprises can further contribute to community development and local food tourism, ensuring long-term benefits and improved quality of life for women and their families.
