Transformative Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Readiness of Senior High School Students for Lifelong Learning

Abstract

The increased use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education indicates that it is necessary to prepare students with lifelong learning competencies through transformative education practices. The purpose of this quantitative descriptive-correlational study was to investigate the relationship between transformative education and the readiness of Senior High School students to engage in lifelong learning. The sample consisted of 100 Senior High School students who participated in this study voluntarily with the aid of an instrument developed by the researcher. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and simple linear regression. The findings revealed a low level of transformative education and low level of readiness for lifelong learning among the respondents. The study highlighted that respondent students face difficulties in self-directed learning, adaptability, information literacy, digital competence, and AI literacy. However, it was discovered that transformative education affects the readiness of Senior High School students for lifelong learning positively. As a result, the study also showed that transformative education is a predictor of students' readiness for lifelong learning in a way that proves learner-centered education and reflection during the learning process is important to develop their lifelong learning competencies. Learning process is important to develop their lifelong learning competencies.
