Introduction
Waste generation and improper waste disposal remain significant environmental concerns. The increasing volume of solid waste requires individuals and institutions to strengthen waste reduction practices through awareness, responsible behavior, and active participation. In the educational setting, students play an important role in promoting environmentally responsible practices, particularly those preparing to become future teachers.
This study assessed the awareness and engagement of Science Major students of Isabela State University–Cauayan Campus in waste reduction. Specifically, it determined their profile according to sex and year level, assessed their awareness and engagement in waste reduction, examined differences according to their profile, and determined the relationship between awareness and engagement. The study was anchored on the premise that increased awareness may contribute to stronger participation in sustainable waste-reduction practices.
