ABSTRACT
The very quick implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the global education field, at the same time creating new opportunities for growth but also posing unique issues for staff. In this study it looked into the issue of how AI is being implemented, used, and is affected by the 18 members of the teaching staff at Centro Integrated School. Also I looked at how aware the staff are of what is out there and what they are doing with it, what applications they are using most and for what, and what the results of that use are in terms of instructional performance, output quality, and student engagement. Also I looked at what the staff are having trouble with and what support the school is providing. I found out that although the staff see value in AI which includes in reducing admin work, making lesson plan easier, and in the creation of better learning materials, that in fact the take up is not uniform. Also I noted that what is putting staff off is a lack of formal training, questions around the reliability of the content, tech issues, and also ethical issues. What I did find is that although AI is a great support tool it for the most part is not being used to its full potential. For that to change we put forth the idea of developing staff development programs and school policy that will in turn see better integration of AI and in that way improve the quality of what is put out and the professional practice of the staff at Centro Integrated School.
