The Effectiveness of Classroom Teaching Demonstration to the Bachelor of Elementary Education Pre-Service Teachers

Abstract

This quantitative study determined the effectiveness of classroom teaching demonstrations to Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) pre-service teachers in selected private colleges in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte for the school year 2025–2026. Using a descriptive research design, the respondents were 365 pre-service teachers. Findings revealed that the majority were aged 19–27 years old, predominantly female, and conducted their demonstrations during their fourth-year level. Among the 21 teaching skills identified, Lesson Planning emerged as the most gained skill, while confidence in delivering lessons was the most effectively developed competency. Pre-service teachers perceived classroom teaching demonstrations as Very Effective in preparing them for their student teaching program. The findings highlight the critical role of structured teaching demonstrations in developing essential teaching competencies before actual classroom deployment. The study underscores the need for teacher education institutions to strengthen confidence-building activities, inclusive teaching practices, and coaching on lesson pacing to better prepare pre-service teachers for their student teaching program.
