Introduction
Special Needs Education (SNED) is an important component of inclusive education because it provides learners with disabilities and other educational needs access to appropriate instruction, assessment, support, and participation. Effective implementation requires schools to identify learners who may need specialized services, conduct appropriate assessments, provide suitable program options, modify curricula, and establish meaningful partnerships with parents. In the Philippine context, these practices are reinforced by the country’s inclusive education policy directions and the implementation of Republic Act No. 11650.
This study evaluated the implementation status of SNED in Tubo Elementary School, Tubo, Ilagan City, Isabela. It specifically examined five major areas of implementation: Child Find, Assessment, Program Options, Curriculum Modifications, and Parental Involvement. The findings provide a district-level picture of practices that are being implemented strongly and areas that may require continued strengthening.
