One of the current trends in education, is the AI-driven personalized learning. This is the technological approach in education system where in AI (artificial intelligence) is used to analyze students’ learning behavior, progress, and preferences.
The AI-driven personalized education can suggest course materials, tasks or challenges based on the learning capacity data of the students. This AI learning tool may impact the order, pace and difficulty of the learning content delivery. It’s goal of real-time curriculum adaptation based on the learning capibility and other education preferences of the students.
In the tradition classroom settings it has a uniform curriculum for all. But, it has consistently failed to accommodate the varied demands and modalities of todays’ learners. Currently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) provides a better solution through customization of learning trajectories for each student. not by teacher differentiation, but AI data-driven algorithms. During it’s experiment phase it has proven that it is scalable, authenti, which is now already integrated into systems ranging from K–12 to higher education. However, some educators still doubting on embracing this new tools, considering its promises and limitations.
Using AI personalization in education gives benefits that make teaching and learning good a experience. The students learn at their own pace with the use of AI . Also, helps struggling learners receive reviews while other students can move ahead, helps to minimize boredom and dropout rates. Since the education is tailored to the students’ interests their engagement increases and become more motivated. AI-based tutors empower students by giving them instant feedback. It helps the students to self-correct and develop a learning habits. Lastly, AI supports different learning by customizing lessons for individuals with disabilities, language differences, or non-educational backgrounds.
AI-based personalization in education and training at various levels:
· Khan Academy - leverage mastery-based progression, offering adaptive hints and question sequences tailored to each student's performance.
· Carnegie Learning - adjusts math problems in real time based on students' problem-solving approaches.
· Coursera - recommend individualized pathways that help learners acquire job-ready skills, and
· Duolingo - tailors the spacing and complexity of language exercises to each user’s needs.
· EdCast - personalized microlearning experiences for employees, taking into account their roles, prior experience, and learning history.
AI-driven learning drawbacks is data-bias, this might cause AI systems to unintentionally propagate inequalities like lower expectations for some learners. If children are always put up for success, over-adaptation may reduce their resilience and higher-order thinking. Frequent customization systems do not explain their decision-making processes, making it hard for teachers to assess the students' learning ability.
The educators are still important in the era of personalized learning even as AI becomes evident in the classrooms. But AI should not replace human instructions instead it should empower them. Making academicians to be more knowledgeable in designing and implementing the curriculum. It should not and cannot replace the human empathy and meaningful learning support the teachers can give.
Finally, privacy and consent present ongoing concerns, since tracking students’ behavior in detail demands robust safeguards for data security and clear, informed consent from users.
In conclusion, AI-based personalization in education transformed how we approach teaching and learning. By tailoring the learning instructions to each student’s ability, challenges, and interests. AI enables increase the level of engagement that traditional curricula fail to provide. This individualized approach not only increases student motivation and confidence but also create a more inclusive classroom learning environment where students’ needs are recognized and addressed.
