Abstract
This study examined the effects of leadership styles on teaching strategies of junior high school teachers in the 2nd Congressional District of Masbate. It answered three questions on the profile of school leaders, their leadership styles, and the impact of these styles on teaching strategies. A quantitative design was used, with data collected from 30 purposively selected school leaders and analyzed using frequency, percentage, and weighted mean.
Results show that most leaders are mid- to late-career professionals, with more males than females. Many are pursuing or have completed advanced degrees, showing strong professional development. Transformational leadership was the most dominant style, followed by transactional and democratic leadership.
Findings reveal that all leadership styles positively affect teaching strategies, with transformational leadership having the strongest impact. The study concludes that experienced leaders using transformational leadership are more effective in improving instructional practices.
It is recommended to strengthen leadership succession, mentoring, and professional development programs, especially for teacher-leaders, to improve both leadership capacity and teaching quality in the district.
