Abstract- This study assessed the phonological awareness (PA) levels of Grade 4 students across selected barangays in Aroroy District. It aimed to determine how well learners perform across different word groups essential for reading development. A descriptive research design was employed, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire that assessed students’ skills in reading various word groups. A total of 50 students participated in the study, and their responses were analyzed using mean scores.
The results showed that most students are comfortable with basic word patterns such as CVC words. However, many students still struggle with more complex patterns, particularly silent letters and diphthongs. This suggests that while foundation skills are present, there are still gaps that need attention.
Based on this study, the researchers suggest that teachers may provide more focused activities and reading interventions to help students improve their phonological skills. The findings of this study can also be used as a basis for creating an instructional plan to support the reading development of Grade 4 students in the Aroroy District.
