Abstract
The study examined the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of Filipino Special Education teachers employed in U.S. school districts in South Texas and explored the relationship between these variables. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design, data were collected from Filipino Special Education teachers through a structured survey questionnaire measuring job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Descriptive statistics, tests of difference, and correlation analyses were employed to analyze the data. Findings revealed that the respondents were predominantly young, female, highly educated, and early-career professionals working primarily in inclusive educational settings under international visa programs. The overall level of job satisfaction was high, with supervision, responsibility and nature of work, and salary and benefits receiving the highest ratings. Organizational commitment was found to be moderately high, with normative commitment emerging as the strongest dimension. Significant differences in job satisfaction were observed when respondents were grouped according to age, sex, years of teaching experience, visa type, grade level taught, and special education assignment, while no significant differences were found based on civil status and educational attainment. Furthermore, several dimensions of job satisfaction demonstrated significant relationships with organizational commitment, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis. The study concludes that supportive organizational practices, meaningful work experiences, professional recognition, and employment stability contribute to enhanced job satisfaction and stronger organizational commitment. The findings suggest the importance of implementing targeted support and retention initiatives, such as the proposed SUPPORT Program, to strengthen teacher well-being, professional growth, and long-term commitment among Filipino Special Education teachers in South Texas.
