Abstract
This research examined how prepared a private institution is in adopting the Strengthened Senior High School (SSHS) Curriculum. This study focused on the level of preparedness of private institutions that offer senior high school programs in terms of administrative readiness, teacher preparedness, and instructional resources preparedness, determine which institutional factors yield the highest and lowest levels of preparedness. Additionally, this determined the areas that need improvement and gave recommendations for a more effective implementation.
A quantitative-descriptive research design was used for this research, involving 10 senior high teachers and the principal as respondents, which was chosen using purposive sampling. Using a structured questionnaire, the data were obtained and analyzed with weighted means and comparison of mean scores.
Results indicated that the institution has obtained a high to very high level of readiness across the identified factors. Among the determined institutional factors, administrative readiness gained the highest mean of 3.36. This shows that the institution has strong leadership, effective planning, and clear communication. Following this factor is the teacher preparedness, with a remark of a high level from the mean score of 3.22. This implies that the teachers are capable and are highly prepared for the implementation of the new curriculum. However, instructional resources preparedness obtained the lowest mean of 2.86, hinting that there are gaps in materials, facilities, and access to instructional technology.
These results revealed that there are areas in the instructional resources that need improvement, particularly in terms of access to technology, facilities, and materials. In addition to this, the findings showed that teachers’ assessment practices require further enhancement. These findings tell that strengthening institutional support in terms of resources and teacher development is important for a successful curriculum implementation.
In conclusion, while the institution displays a satisfactory level of preparedness across all institutional factors, improvements in both resources and instructional practice are important for an effective and sustainable SSHS Curriculum implementation.
